Practice vs ranked
Note
Prices and rules can change. Confirm the live product page if you are about to pay.
Practice is for learning. Ranked play is for signed-in scores that can appear on leaderboards.
Signed-in free accounts have a daily ranked-start limit (currently 10 per day unless a live game says otherwise). GamePass and GamePass+ remove that limit.
Practice
- Available to guests and signed-in players
- Does not use tournament attempts
- Does not award Pepi Points
Ranked and competitive play
Signed-in players can start ranked runs on the live arcade games. GamePass is not required to appear on a game leaderboard. GamePass and GamePass+ both remove the daily ranked-start cap. GamePass+ does not add a higher ranked cap than GamePass.
Not the same in every game
- Mem(e)ory and Whack-a-Mole are treated as casual play in activity tracking
- Arena has its own casual vs ranked room rules
- Tournaments use a separate attempt count
